Back to School...
This time of year always brings back a flood of back to school memories. What will my new teachers be like? What are we going to learn? What am I going to wear? All questions based on excitement, eager anticipation and some apprehension. Like all students, my hopes were high and most of the time the reality met or exceeded my imagination. My teachers were amazing. How they were able to introduce a subject, tie it in to what we already learned, make it interesting and keep me eager to learn more is way beyond my skill set. It obviously takes a special person to dedicate their lives to giving back in this way. Let’s give a big heartfelt thanks to all the educators out there. You are literally creating our future!
Parents, you are the other part of the success story. I never really had a sense of the effort involved in making sure supplies, shoes, and clothes were all bought and ready to go on that first day. That’s just what parents do. They provide. But, I knew there were strings—expectations that I would take my education seriously and use it to create a better life for myself than my parents had. Thank you mom and dad for wanting nothing but the best for me and making sure I wanted that for myself.
