Get ready! We are upping our game and sharpening our focus to inspire, educate and empower girls! We have big plans for the new year and we will need your help. Look for more details in the coming days.
Thanks to you, 2016 was a terrific year for Career Girls! We relaunched our website to make it easier to search our 8,000 video clips by what you like to do or what your interests are. Thanks to you, our daily page views have doubled. As a result, we have had over 1.4 million page views over the past year!
In addition, we’ve added three new Board Members, created a School Counselor's Advisory Board and have expanded our team.
Oh, and there were three fantastic video shoots... Girls Inc. of Metro Denver hosted us for a week in May, we returned to YouTube Space LA in August to film more women behind the scenes in television, and then off to Cambridge, MA in September where we collaborated with the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy and filmed women awardees and judges from the Inclusive Innovation Competition and other amazing women from the Boston area. Some of the role models you will soon see include a physicist who designs atomic clocks, an educator who teaches Lakota in public schools, environmental activists, park rangers, human rights activists, television producers, economic developers, engineers and scientists, just to list a few. Of course, we are not done and look forward to more video shoots in the upcoming year.
One of the video formats we are most excited about are our "Empowerment Lesson Videos". Currently you can watch 14 of these short videos, which feature several role models speaking to a specific theme, such as importance of math, financial literacy, being confident, choosing friends and why choose STEM. We worked with two curriculum experts to create classroom lesson plans and learning guides to accompany each video. If you haven't seen them yet, click here. And check back regularly as we will be adding more in 2017.
We’d like to give special thanks to our donors. With your help, we will keep the momentum going and continue to empower the next generation of girls coming up behind us!
Stay tuned for more…
