6 Quotes to Motivate You During the School Year

By Sareena Rama

Here are some quotes that can help you through just about anything you could feel throughout the school year. School can be tough. If you need a bit of motivation, read on!

1. When you feel like nothing's going your way and you need a little positivity boost remember this,

“Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, focus on what could go right.” –Unknown

Looking at the glass half full can boost your mood! This quote helps me to calm down before a test or big assignment is due. It shows me that if I look at my task in a positive light, I can achieve a great result.

2. When you feel negative,

“We must all make the choice between what is right and what is easy.” - J.K Rowling, Professor Dumbledore

It is incredibly easy to complain and whine, so use this quote to remind yourself that the easy way out is not always the right thing to do. Let it inspire you to have a more positive outlook. Instead of complaining, go do something about it! And if you feel like another human being needs your help, help them. These are not easy things to do but the reward of being positive is a great thing.

3. When you feel unmotivated and just don’t want to do schoolwork,

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.” -Unknown

Often people can feel unmotivated and almost forget why they are in school. Mostly, people who go to school are studying to get a degree in something they are passionate about. For me, I am working hard to become a teacher. I envision a classroom full of curious and happy 1st graders when I feel unmotivated. This helps me to remember why I am in college and why I must do my very best to succeed. Find out what your beautiful destination is and all your difficult work will be worth it.

4. When you are in a rut,

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” -Dr. Seuss, Oh the Places You’ll Go!

Dr. Seuss’ words are wise, he teaches us that you must never forget that you are in charge of your own life. If you feel stuck and start to change your mind about how you are living, you have the power to change it! Use your brain and your feet to change the direction you are headed in.

5. If you are feeling apprehensive or nervous,

“Inhale confidence, exhale doubt.” –Unknown

This mantra should be kept in your back pocket. In the event that you are nervous, repeat this chant in your mind to get you through the task.

6. If you are just having a rough day,

“Just because you are happy does not mean the day is perfect, but that you look beyond its imperfections.” – Bob Marley

I can honestly say this quote has completely changed my perspective on my entire life. If I ever have a bad day, due to an insignificant reason, all I want to do is lie in bed and do nothing. However, this quote has taught me that a simple change in attitude can significantly affect the outcome of my day. If you have the strength to look past a bad situation, do it!

Hopefully these quotes inspire you to become more motivated throughout the school year and beyond. We often forget that we have to power to change our individual worlds by changing our perspectives. This school year I challenge you to change the way you look at your heavy workload or the way you view your busy schedule. Change starts with you.
