Social Entrepreneur
Watch Ella Peinovich, social entrepreneur and founder of Soko, an ethically sourced online jewelry and accessories company, share how her training in design thinking was critically important in helping her create her company. Her concept was to develop a better way for local artisans, from Kenya in this case, to sell their products to retailers in the US and around the world. Her company was recognized by MIT’s 2016 Inclusive Innovation Competition for its unique and patented manufacturing model which ensures that the artisans are fairly compensated while meeting consumer demand. Her advice to girls who want to start a business is to travel and learn about people from different cultures.
