Data Scientist
Watch Mona Vernon, data scientist and Vice President, Thomson Reuters Lab, share how a career in data science is not only interesting and exciting, but can offer ways to help people solve difficult problems. As a manager in the field of information technology, she runs a network of laboratories around the world conducting experiments with data. Some of the tools they create predict future behavior and an important part of their job is to present the information in a visually creative way to help users gain valuable insights. The work done in her labs is used by decision makers in the legal and financial services fields to aid them in data analysis. She encourages girls to consider a career in data science because data is all around us– in our phones, video browsers and even washing machines. If a girl learns about statistics and how to code, she can work in any field as a data scientist.
