of deaf people, WFD includes national
organizations of deaf people in 120 countries.
WFD works for human rights and equal
opportunity for deaf people, and the right
of deaf people to use sign language to get
education and information. WFD initiated the
annual Deaf Awareness Week to celebrate the
culture, heritage, and language unique to deaf
