The tester should
•	 stay behind the child.
•	 make the sounds at the same
height as the child’s ears.
•	 make the sounds 1 meter
(3 feet) from the child.
•	 not let the child see him, or
his shadow or reflection.
•	make the sounds on the left
and right side of the child.
The helper should
•	 keep the child’s attention on
the toy.
•	 be calm and quiet.
•	 not look at the tester.
•	 not react to any of the
sounds made by the tester.
