If classes are often held in a particular spot outdoors, a low-cost ‘billboard’ of
bajareque (mud on bamboo or sticks) can be made to hold up a flannel sheet and
posters. Be sure the surface tilts
backward a little so that flannel-
board pieces will not fall off easily.

protected from the wind.
To make the billboard
flat, cover it with
mortar made of mud
and sand, and a little
cement, if possible.
If you use a final
surface of rough
sand mixed with
cement, flannel-
backed pictures may
stick to it directly
- as on sandpaper.
You can build a small roof over
the billboard to protect it from the
weather.
The flannel sheet or
blanket can be hung on
the billboard for class,
and then taken down and
stored in a safe place.

announcements. If
children make health
posters, try displaying
the best ones on the
billboard every week.
